PROFILE

Mr. Kakiuchi began his career in the intellectual property field in 2001 and became a managing partner of our firm in 2019. Mr. Kakiuchi, who graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from the Faculty of Engineering of Kagoshima University, began his career as a design engineer for industrial machinery. After turning to the management of intellectual property, he joined a corporate intellectual property department, where he eventually became the head of the IP department.
After passing the patent attorney examination, Mr. Kakiuchi dedicates to the growth of our firm. His experience as an engineer and IP department manager enables him to understand the cost awareness and quality requirements of corporate IP departments. He strives for a sense of balance in providing high quality services tailored to the needs of corporate IP departments, and, strives to build a trusting relationship with the industry to create an environment in which our people can contribute to the business success of our firm's clients. The "client first" motto is not an empty phrase for Mr. Kakiuchi, as under his leadership an attractive working environment was created that enables him and all of our people to provide the best IP solutions for our clients.

Due to his experience in industry and his technological career, Mr. Kakiuchi has expertise in the management and enforcement of patents, which he uses to successfully obtain and enforce intellectual property rights in the field of mechanical engineering. He is experienced in inter-partes proceedings such as invalidation trial proceedings, etc. and provides knowhow on the appropriate resolution of patent disputes. Furthermore, he is well versed in opposition proceedings, opinions on alleged patent infringements, freedom-to-operate opinions, etc.
